Prior to the pandemic we managed pet therapy visits on child, adolescent and geri BH units.   Visits were in group settings and were supervised by a LCSW on the unit.  Only a select group of volunteer/pet teams were used for psych visits and were clearly trained on expectations of volunteering with the BH population.  Additionally the supervisor on the BH maintained close contact with volunteers and would reach out to cancel visits if conditions on the unit contraindicated.

We plan to add pet therapy at our behavioral health in patient facility at Caldwell UNC Health Care.  If you have a program of this type, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you.  I have a short time frame prior to program launching so a quick reply to this email with your name and contact information including phone number would be most appreciated!

    Thank you,    Alice Whisnant  828-496-7436
