I love Aubrey's idea of selling what our employees actually need. Currently our shop is open for phone and email orders from employees. Our GS manager created a order form similar to CharGrill that list what is available and the cost. Employees then have to pick up the items during a set time. On June 4, the shop will open with paid staff.  Hours will be reduced. We worked with infection prevention to put up plexiglass in front of cashiers, ordering a steamer to use to clean clothes, limiting # of people, etc.

Our main gift shop has stayed open the entire time with paid staff covering.  The smaller gift shop in the surgical waiting area is closed while we are under visitor restrictions.

The gift shop stocked up on some staple items at Sam's and has been selling toilet paper, paper towels, canned goods, bread, cereals etc as a service to staff during this time.  It has been really well received.

    Hey ladies,

Our gift shop is completely volunteer ran, but since it looks like it will be quite a while before volunteers are back onsite, Carla and I did get permission for each of us to come in and open the shop two days a week (one day each).

We haven't heard any word on when volunteers may be allowed back.  From everyone I've talked to, it may be late summer/early fall.  :(

    Good Morning!

We too never completely closed and have just increased our hours M-F 9-5 and Saturday 10-2 using our paid Auxiliary staff.

Has anyone had any speculation as to a return for volunteers? Just trying to see what seeeeeems realistic.  Summer? Fall?

Thanks! Hope y'all are doing well.

Our shop is staffed solely by volunteers and until they feel safe returning (and we know that will vary by person) we are remaining closed. However, we did offer paper/email orders during this time. Staff would complete a simple order form specifically for snacks and either drop off or email. Orders would be filled and delivered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2-4 pm. This way staff would be able to enjoy snacks, drinks, and a few other items that were easy to handle. As the only paid employee I did all the packaging and delivering of the items. I have a few volunteers that are ready to return and have said so, but we are waiting on administrative approval as our facility is following a phase plan developed in house.

    Hello Everyone,

Our shop has been closed since mid March.  No paid staff, so until the volunteers come back, the shop will remain closed.   There has been no discussion at this time about  their return.

We never completely closed gift shop because we are blessed with part-time employees.  Our hours have shortened by half, and we are closed on the weekends now.  We allow three customers in at a time, and our employees have been great at social distancing.

    Recognition on-hold until volunteers return.

I'd still like to have a junior volunteer program for a few weeks this summer with returning students only.  It will be impossible to process new students.  All is on hold for now.

My shop has been open on Tues & Thurs, from 10a-Noon.  We allow 3 people in at a time and have done more this month than in March.  Those 2 hrs are staffed by me and I am averaging $500/hour.  I also offered some Mother's Day bundles, wrapped and delivered.  I have 5 bundles and sold out in 2 days.

I hope we can open with limited hours soon. But it sounds like it will be later in May.  I have not ordered any new merchandise until I get a date.  Shop is run by Volunteers and one paid employee.  I will be interested in hearing from others about plans?

Also, Jr Volunteers....Yes or No for this summer?? Brunches/Recognitions?

    Hey Chris,

Our gift shop is solely volunteers (no paid staff) so we will not be able to re-open until they allow some volunteers back on-site.  I hope that is sooner rather than later, we have been closed since mid-March.  I'm interested to see what others do too.

    Take care!
