Our volunteers are allowed to strip and remake beds.
Our volunteers are allowed in our ER to strip beds that are not soiled ( no body fluid) and allowed to wipe down any touch points on the beds, chairs etc, with cavi wipes.
Our volunteers can strip linens that are not visibly soiled and can make beds.
Our volunteers sanitize beds in endo according to hospital policies and procedures, but not on the inpatient towers.
As per Infection Control Department, our policies do not allow volunteers to provide housekeeping services. Volunteers are allowed to make clean linen beds, but they cannot strip beds or handle dirty linens.
Our volunteers are not to do any housekeeping duties at our hospital. They can assist with bed making with a paid staff member but are not allowed to strip beds and clean the mattress.
Our infection control department has advised our volunteers should no longer strip or clean beds/rooms.
What are your policies and procedures regarding this volunteer activity?
Thanks!
