    Hey Nancy,

We are still in the process of getting a POS system so I can't answer a lot of your questions, but from my demo with ARBA I know they can do the payroll deduct and the sales.  I believe from what I'm looking at the fee is not quite that much -- but that may depend on the number of systems/shops you have (I only have 1).  I hope to get final approval soon so I'll keep you posted!!

I would like to know those of you that are using something beseides MM Hayes/Quickcharge a couple of question if you don't mind answering them.

    1. When I started with MM Hayes it was around $20,000 and was a pretty good system. They changed it a couple of years ago not I am not crazy about it. But that aside.....We have to pay $4700.00 a years for tech help and equipment maintenance. I would say they get called for questions 12 times a year and half the time THEY can't answer or what I need is not available. And the equipment has never been upgraded or had to be replaced. So, I feel like that is $4700.00 of profit I am throwing away.

    2. Do you payroll deduct? If so how does it break it down out of their check? We are a tier system. So what ever their balance is desides what their payment is. So if their balance is $300.00, the payment would be $100. As the balance drops (if they don't charge anything else) the payment drops.

    3. Are you able to do use it for fundraisers?

    4. Do you feel like you get adequate reports?

It's time for me to either pay my annual fee or change systems. The biggest issue is the charge for a new system and the timing.

Your answers would really be beneficial.

    Thanks,

    Nancy Rogers

I am also interested in looking into a new POS system for our Gift Shop.  Do you all offer payroll deduction for your employees? If so, are these systems compatible with the system you use for payroll deduction? We use Quickcharge, so I would be curious to find out of those systems are compatible.

We utilize Counterpoint through Randall Data Systems.. NHRMC is on this program as well. Very easy to use! We have been on this system since October and use it for fundraising (payroll deductions also).

MM Hayes. I just assumed full responsibility of our gift shop last week as the gift shop managers position was eliminated. I'm just learning the ins/outs so can't give feedback right now. We do use the QuickCharge for our vendor sales and haven't had any issues with that.

We use Arba Pro and love it.  We use it for our sales and in the gift shops. Teressa.Stout@unchealth.unc.edu can provide detail on the system.

MM Hayes - I have used them for the past 9 years. At first it was great but it has changed so much that I am thinking of finding something else. I am interested to see what others say.

For those of you who oversee your gift shop, what company do you have your Point of Sale System through and would you recommend them?
