We require them to complete everything just like the volunteer.

Volunteers who require assistants are welcome but the assistant MUST comply with all on boarding requirements and annual updates. Knock wood, this has not been an issue. We did try a group of at risk students accompanied by an "instructor" (in a non patient contact role) but  this situation proved to be a problem... instructor seems to like to use the time on campus to shop in our gift shop, go to cafeteria or stay on her cell phone... so no more.

Rex requires that the person be able to volunteer independently. Unfortunately, we has several bad situations - coaches not showing up, coaches using inappropriate behavior, or the coach spending so much time distracting/visiting with the employees that we unfortunately decided not to use these volunteers.

Yes at WakeMed we require job coaches or aides to go through the onboarding processes the same as the volunteer.  Since they are in the hospital in the same retrospect as the volunteer they too need to be compliant for medical, background check, orientation, etc...

    Thanks

If a volunteer requires an aid to be with them ie special needs, do you require the aid to also complete all of the Orientation requirements including background check, employee health requirements, etc.
